Browsing Experiences and Tours

Last updated April 23, 2026

Two Ways to Browse

Per-Trip (inside a trip)

Open a trip and click Experiences in the left-hand navigation. The results are filtered to the trip's destination. Use the search bar to narrow further (e.g. "cooking class" in Rome).

This is the fastest way to find add-on activities for a trip you're already planning.

Global (outside of a trip)

Open Experiences from the main app navigation. You can search by location and keyword — useful for browsing destinations you haven't committed to yet or comparing what's available across cities.

Reading an Experience Card

Each experience card shows:

  • Primary image — from the tour operator's listing
  • Title — the operator's name for the experience
  • Flags — Free Cancellation, Skip the Line, Likely to Sell Out, etc.
  • Duration — how long the tour runs
  • Rating — stars from Viator/Tripadvisor reviews
  • Review count — how many people have rated it
  • Price — starting price per person
  • Book Now button — opens the booking page in a new tab

Searching and Paginating

The search bar supports natural language — "family" pulls family-friendly tours, "food" pulls culinary experiences. Matches are applied to titles and descriptions.

Pagination at the top and bottom of the results lets you step through pages of 10 results. The total count appears in the paginator.

What Happens When You Book

Click Book Now on any experience card. A new tab opens on Viator's booking page with:

  • Full description
  • Photos and video
  • Availability calendar
  • Pricing tiers and add-ons
  • Customer reviews

Complete the booking on Viator. You'll receive a booking confirmation directly from them.

Back in Plan Harmony, add the experience to your trip as an event (manually) so it shows up on the calendar and map. Use the Experience event type for appropriate color-coding.

Tips

  • Book early for popular experiences. Experiences flagged "Likely to Sell Out" often do — especially in peak season.
  • Check cancellation policies. Free Cancellation gives you flexibility; non-refundable experiences are cheaper but riskier if plans change.
  • Add to the calendar at booking time. Once you've confirmed a booking, immediately add the experience to the trip's calendar so the whole group sees it. Include the confirmation number in the description.
  • Use Optional Events for group decisions. If you're considering an experience but want the group to weigh in first, add it as an optional event, paste in the Viator link, and let everyone vote before booking.
  • Filter by keyword, then by flags. Start with a keyword ("boat") then look for flags like Free Cancellation and Skip the Line to narrow to the best-fit options.
