Sharing Your Trip Publicly

Sharing Your Trip Publicly

Last updated April 23, 2026

Why Public Sharing

Sometimes you want someone to see your itinerary without going through account signup, invitation, and login.

Common cases:

  • Sending to family who aren't traveling but want to keep in touch during the trip
  • Sharing with a travel agent who's helping you finalize plans
  • Sending to a pet sitter or house sitter so they know when you'll be back
  • Posting on a group trip chat where not everyone is on Plan Harmony
  • Bragging rights — showing off a beautiful trip itinerary

A public link gives anyone with the URL read-only access to the calendar and map.

Turning On Public Sharing

  1. Open the trip and click Settings in the left-hand navigation.
  2. Scroll to the Sharing card.
  3. Toggle Make this trip shareable on.
  4. A red reminder appears: "Click 'Save Trip' to make it shareable."
  5. Click Save Trip at the bottom of the Trip Information section.

After saving, the public URL appears below the toggle with a copy button. The URL follows this pattern:

https://app.planharmony.com/public/trips/{trip-id}/calendar

Click the copy icon to copy the URL to your clipboard, then share it wherever you want.

What Public Viewers See

The public view shows two tabs:

  • Calendar — the full day/week/month/agenda views of events, with event details (title, description, time, location) visible when you click an event
  • Map — all event locations and travel routes

Plus the trip header:

  • Trip banner image, title, description, dates, destination
  • Traveler avatars (first 5) and total guest count
  • Days-to-go countdown (when the trip is upcoming)
  • Plan Harmony Free / Pro badge

What public viewers don't see:

  • Budget
  • Travel Documents / files
  • Travel Preferences
  • Settings
  • The Invite Guests / Clone Trip actions
  • Agency portal features
  • Optional event voting controls
  • Event attachments

Turning Off Public Sharing

  1. Open SettingsSharing.
  2. Toggle Make this trip shareable off.
  3. Click Save Trip.

The public link stops working immediately. Anyone with the URL will see a "This Trip is Not Available" message.

If you toggle sharing back on, the URL is the same — the trip ID doesn't change between toggles.

Featuring a Trip on an Agency Profile (agency members only)

If you're an agency member, the Sharing section has an additional switch: Feature on agency profile. Flipping this on (and saving) adds the trip to your agency's public profile page as a showcase example. Up to 6 trips can be featured at once.

This is useful for showing prospective clients what you've planned before. See the Agency Profile articles for more.

Tips

  • Use a URL shortener for social. Plan Harmony URLs are long. Pair a public link with a bit.ly or tinyurl shortener if you're sharing it verbally or in limited-character contexts.
  • Preview before sharing. Copy the link and open it in an incognito window to see exactly what your audience will see.
  • Remember that links are guessable-ish. Plan Harmony trip IDs are UUIDs — not sequential — so a random guess is effectively impossible. But anyone with the URL has access, so don't paste the link into a public repository or a pastebin.
  • Combine with guest invitations. For people who'll actually be on the trip, invite them by email so they can edit, vote, and see budgets. Use public sharing only for read-only spectators.
