Starting a New Trip

A trip in Plan Harmony is the workspace where everything for a single journey lives — itinerary, budget, documents, map, experiences, and the people traveling with you. You can create as many trips as you want on a free account.

To create a trip, sign in and go to app.planharmony.com/trips. The Where to next? hero sits at the top of the page with two fields: a destination search and a date picker.

  1. Type a destination — a city, region, country, or resort area. Pick a result from the Google Places suggestions.
  2. Click Select dates and choose a start and end date. Both are required.
  3. Click Start Planning.

Plan Harmony takes you to the Calendar view for the new trip and opens the Add Event drawer so you can begin filling in your itinerary.


What You Get in a New Trip

Every trip comes with seven sections accessible from the left-hand navigation:

Calendar Day-by-day itinerary. Drag on any slot to create a new event.
Budget Per-event and standalone budget items with category and per-guest breakdowns.
Map All event locations and travel routes visualized. Click any Google Places POI to add it as an event.
Travel Documents Upload boarding passes, reservations, and confirmations.
Experiences Browse curated activities and tours for the destination.
Settings Rename the trip, change the banner, adjust dates and timezones, toggle public sharing, delete the trip.

If an agency is planning the trip, two additional tabs appear: Travel Preferences (dietary, seat, hotel, passport details) and Agent Profile (the agency's public profile).


Free vs. Pro

A new trip starts on the free tier. The trip header shows a Plan Harmony Free or Plan Harmony Pro badge so you always know which tier applies.

You can upgrade a single trip to Pro for a one-time $6.99, or subscribe to Plan Harmony Pro to unlock Pro features across all current and future trips.


Tips for Getting Started

  • Change the trip image. The default banner is generic — open Settings → Trip Information and click the image to upload your own (JPG, PNG, or GIF, up to 2 MB).
  • Add a description. Trip descriptions appear on public share pages and help collaborators understand the purpose of the trip.
  • Invite guests early. Use the Invite Guests button on the trip header to add travelers by email or create placeholder guests for people without an email address. Guests see the itinerary and can collaborate depending on their role.
  • Let the AI planner help. Plan Harmony's AI Travel Planner generates destination-aware suggestions that show up in the Calendar view as purple "AI Suggestion" events you can accept with one click.

What's Next

Once your trip is created, build out the itinerary: drag on the calendar to create events, drop in flights and accommodations, and pin restaurants and attractions from the map. When you're ready, invite your travel companions so they can see the plan and weigh in.
